Gabrielle is the blogger behind PaperplanesAndMaryjanes. She lives in USA and is very passionate about music, quote: "My clothes are my music, and each piece is chosen as carefully as each chord is chosen in a song. When I am in a style rut and feeling uninspired, I pick a new playlist and let the music tell me who I should be that day." How beautiful is that! :) Also check the bottom of each post for the name of the song that inspired Gabrielle's outfit that day. e.g. When I get to the bottom I go back to top. Besides music she blogs about fashion icons e.g. Brigitte Bardot and Patti Smith. And shows some delicious recipes e.g. Silly Love Songs and Miss American Pie. And Gabrielle is in the top five finalists on the Levi's girl contest! We are rooting for you girl!
PaperplanesAndMaryjanes:
I am an old soul. I love new trends but like to style them with a vintage twist. My style, above all, is comfortable and functional. If someone is not comfortable in their clothes, it really shows. And my golden rule is: if you can't walk in them, then you shouldn't be wearing them (which is why I end up selling all my shoes on eBay).
Music inspires me. Songs can make me feel angry, happy, affectionate, fired-up, beautiful and free. Just like clothes, music can transform you into someone and put you in another time. I always look to my favorite songs to offer inspiration for a new outfit.
Right now I really love shops like H&M and Forever21 where I can leave with killer looks without killing my bank account. But I have always loved brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture and Levi's.
A vintage black dress covered in fringe from the 1960s. If I didn't know any better I would swear someone custom made it for me twenty years before I was born.
I am drawn to the styles of the 60s. I would go back in time to live in London in the 1960s, in the center of mod culture. I'd befriend the models, designers and rockers that defined the entire (and original) street-style culture. Then I would move to the States, grow out my hair and hang out in Central Park with the hippies- a style I like to think I have mastered.
