    STELLA!!

altIn a brave new world of acronyms the letters GFC are bandied about like it was coming into fashion. The global financial crisis though loaded with negative connotations in it's very phrasing has allowed for a new and wonderful world in fashion. I am of course reffering to designer collaborations with affordable non-labels.

Overseas, Zac Posen and Jean Paul Gaultier have designed for Target and several seasons ago Australia saw Stella McCartney launch her first collaboration with Target. Her first assault on our budget fashion shores saw large queues forming in from of unopened stores at crazy hours in the morning followed by a rampage that left Target a mere shell of it's former self. Second time around, I'm unsure of the level of histeria, but I do know that I like this line better than the last. Boasting a comprehensive range of business wear, party wear, bags and accessories, Stella's new line is littered with decadent lace, satins, tight fitted pants and a largely monochromatic palette.

    What to remember:

    • Although the term 'budget' is bandied around, please remember that you are still buying a designer collaboration. If you walk in expecting normal Target prices you may be soles disappointed, and return with one really nice jacket instead of a full spring wardrobe
    • Last time Stella graced Target, the hangers were randsacked in record time. Get up bright, early and bushy tailed and don't forget to practice your elbow jabbing as you may have to call upon those skills.
    • Know your sizes. If you don't pick up the right one the first time around, I doubt you will have the option of returning to the store in time to exchange it for the same garment in an appropriate size.

You can window shop the full range at the Target website right now but I'm afraid you'll have to wait a few more days before you can go in store and make your purchase. The line is due to 'hit the shelves' on Friday October 29th.
